*Texas Stew Recipe

2 pounds beef tips or pot roast cut into 1 in cube

1 (15 ounce) can of Mexican style tomatoes

1 (10 ounce) can of beef broth

1 (8 ounce) jar of mild picante sauce

1 (10 ounce package frozen whole kernel corn, thawed

3 carrots cut in inch pieces

1 medium onion cut in wedges

teaspoon cumin

teaspoon salt

cup of water

cup pf all purpose flour

Combine first 10 ingredients in 5 quart slow cooker (Crock Pot).

Cook covered on high three to four hours or until meat is tender.

Stir together cup water and flour. Stir into meat mixture; Cover and cook on HIGH one hour or until thickened. Serves six.

*Steak Soup

(2 pound) pkg. of top round steak, cut into 1 inch cubes

1/3 up all-purpose flour

3 tablespoons olive oil

4 cups water

5 or 6 baking potatoes cut into inch cubes

3 carrots, sliced

2 small onions, chopped

1 celery rib, chopped

1 cup frozen sweet green peas

1 (16 ounce can) whole kernel corn drained and rinsed

1 (6 ounce) can of tomato paste

2 cups beef broth, canned or home made

1 to 2 teaspoons of black pepper

Toss steak in flour in zip lock bag. Brown steak in hot oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat for 5 to 8minutes.Stir together steak, the four cups of water and add remaining ingredients in a slow cooker (crock pot).Cook covered on high 8 hours or until vegetables are tender. Salt to taste. Makes about 18 cups for one of the best crock pot recipes.

*Hearty Potato Soup

6 medium to large potatoes (2 to 3 pounds), peeled and cut into inch cubes

2 medium onions

2 carrots sliced thin, may use peeler

2 celery ribs sliced thin

2 14 ounce cans of chicken broth

1 teaspoon of dried basil

1 teaspoon of salt

teaspoon of black pepper

cup of all purpose flour

1 cups of half and half

Put first eight (8) ingredients in slow cooker (crock pot). Cook covered at high for three hours or until veggies are tender. Stir together flour and half and half (cream) add to soup, stir in. Works great in Italian bread bowls.

*Chunky Cheese Queso

1 pound of hot pork sausage

1 (16 ounce) jar processed cheese spread

1 (16 ounce) loaf pasteurized prepared cheese product, cubed

1 (20 ounce) jar hot salsa (or use your own)

Brown sausage in a large skillet, stirring until it crumbles and is no longer pink. Rinse and drain. Stir together sausage and remaining ingredients in a slow cooker (crock pot).Cover and cook at low for 2 hours or until all the cheese is melted. Serve with tortilla chips. Makes about six cups.

*Caramelized Onions

3 Pounds of large sweet onions

1 10 ounce can of chicken or beef broth undiluted

cup of butter

Cut onions in half and then cut into half inch slices. Combine everything in a slow cooker (crock pot). Cook covered at high for eight (8) hours or until golden brown and very soft. Makes two cups. Will last two weeks in fridge or in freezer for 2 months.

*BBQ Baby Back Ribs

5 pounds of pork baby back ribs

1 18 ounce jar of honey mustard BBQ sauce or BBQ sauce of your choice.

Cut ribs to fit slow cooker. Pour sauce over ribs; cover and cook on high for eight (8) hours or until tender.
